It’s a struggle many couples in long-distance relationships face, but months without a kiss may finally be a thing of the past — thanks to an amazing new invention.
Invented by an engineer in China, the ‘miracle’ device has a movable silicone tip that allows you to kiss your partner from a distance.
The sensors mimic the pressure, movement and heat of your partner’s lips while even transmitting the sound of the worm to make it as realistic as possible.
People can also use the device when the receiver is nearby but physical contact is not an option – for example, if someone has a cold or a disease like Covid.
Scientists are already working to bring a kiss to the ‘metaverse’ – a shared universe accessible through the internet.
People can also use the device if the other user is nearby – perhaps if one of them has a cold or an infectious disease like Covid.
It was created by the Changzhou Institute of Technology in eastern China and produced “fans from far and wide.”
Jiang Zhongli, one of the founders, told the Global Times that, “In my university, I had a long-distance relationship with my girlfriend.”
“We only communicate with each other through the phone – that’s where the inspiration for this device came from.”
Because it is connected to the internet, it works regardless of the distance between the two people.
Users put their phones on top of the device and start ‘recording’ kissing the device’s lips.
After they’re done they can upload and save their kiss to a companion app before sending it to the recipient – like sending a WhatsApp message.
Fake lips on the receiving device recreate their partner’s kissing motions while transmitting sounds – if they make any.
According to the South China Morning Post, one lipstick is sold for 260 yuan (£30 or $38) or 550 yuan (£66 or $80) for a pair on Chinese e-commerce platform Taobao.
Customer feedback so far has been mixed.
A buyer said: My friend disagrees [remote kissing] can be achieved at first, so her ribs fell when she used it.

A surprising new device with moving silicon ‘lips’ allows people to kiss their partner remotely over the internet and share intimate moments.

Video calling between long-distance couples will soon never be the same again thanks to an invention by the Changzhou Institute of Technology.
‘This is the best surprise I have given her during our long distance relationship’, the message said.
‘Thank you for the art.’
Another user of the social network Weibo also said: ‘I don’t understand but I am very shocked.’
Someone made a great suggestion for the next version of the technology.
‘It’s amazingly creative, but where’s the language?’ they posted to Weibo.
According to Jiang, innovation promotes monogamous relationships – those with one partner at a time, rather than multiple partners.
This is because it can connect only one sender and one receiver, preventing amorous singletons from using multiple users.
Jiang now hopes to partner with interested companies to help him expand and complete the design.
He claims that 100 devices are already sold through Taobao every month, but he hopes to increase production and sales.
The device is similar to the ‘Kissinger’, a Malaysian invention that has a soft silicon pad.
But by creating a set of lips, Jiang’s device gives more reality to the distant couple.

The device is similar to the Kissinger’ (pictured), a Malaysian manufacturer that has a sensitive silicone pad instead of lips.
Virtual kissing is set to be the next big frontier for virtual reality and especially virtual reality, a virtual reality concept led by Mark Zuckerberg’s company Meta.
Researchers in Pennsylvania have already adapted a virtual reality headset so it lets people kiss in directions.
Thin sensors integrated into the bottom of the unit direct ultrasound energy to different parts of the mouth, including the lips, teeth and tongue.
Distance kissing may be popular because of China’s ‘Zero-Covid’ approach to the disease in the last three years.
The policy, implemented by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) of President Xi Jinping, includes strict lockdown measures, routine PCR tests and extended quarantines.
