Jean Smart skipped the SAGS as she won the Best Actress award as her co-stars shared that she was doing well

Jean Smart has a new robot to wear.

The 71-year-old actress won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series Sunday in Los Angeles, but the Hacks star was unable to accept it herself, as she is recovering from a heart attack.

The Babel actress, who looked stunning at the film’s premiere in December, asked her co-star Christopher McDonald, who stars as Jean’s love interest in the HBO comedy, to accept her award.

Reading from a speech written by Jean, he told the audience of his peers, ‘Y’all rock.’

Several of Jean’s Hacks co-stars sang her praises and gave updates on her looks from the red carpet. ‘We just love her. We send her all our love and she’s doing amazing,’ Rose Abdoo told People.

As for Deborah’s cocktail of choice, Johnny Sibilly promises to raise a glass in her honor, saying, ‘We have a bad martini for Jean tonight.’

‘She really is an actress,’ said Mark Indelicato. “I think being able to work with her and watch her really is like a great teacher and I feel like we all feel that way so it’s just amazing to share the stage with her.

Jean revealed that the surgery was advertised and she started the surgery on February 22 on her Instagram page, but she did not reveal the procedure.

“February is American Heart Month – when the community shines a light on heart health, so it’s important to share with all of you that I’m recovering from a recent, successful heart procedure,” she told her followers.

‘I have been fortunate to receive excellent professional care and support from family and friends as I continue to recover. Please listen to your body and talk to your doctor – I’m glad I did!’

As Jean recovers, production on the third season of Hacks has gone on hiatus, according to Variety.

In a statement received by the television station, HBO Max and Universal Television sent Jean ‘best wishes’: ‘We are happy that our beloved Jean Smart’s heart procedure was successful and she is on the mend. HBO Max and UTV send their best wishes.’

Variety reports the award-winning series is filming this winter with a planned premiere date in 2023.

The show, however, will not be eligible for consideration for the Emmys because it will likely premiere after May 31 to qualify, according to Variety.

Jean won her fourth Emmy Award for the first season of Hacks, which also received awards for writing and directing.

Fans are worried that the show might end after the second season finale, where the professional relationship ends between the characters of Jean and Hannah Einbinder.

Jean plays a pioneering comedian named Deborah Vance who at the beginning of the show settles into a comfortable but unhappy life as a Las Vegas act.

Meanwhile Hannah, 27, whose mother Laraine Newman was in the original cast of Saturday Night Live, plays Deborah’s protégé Ava.

Ava is a comedian who was canceled shortly before the start of season one because of a joke she made on Twitter.

On the mend! Jean, 71, revealed that she is now feeling better as she announced her recent surgery on Instagram on February 22.

As Ava tries to save her job and Deborah tries to revive hers, the great comedian takes a young gun to task for her.

The two women have a torrid relationship at first, but as their mutual respect grows, a balance is established between them.

At the end of the second season, Ava helps Deborah develop a comedy special that becomes a huge career success.

Trying to be great, Deborah then fires Ava so that the hot young writer can devote himself to her work instead of being consumed by Deborah.

Rave reviews poured in for the second season, with Variety declaring that it ‘doesn’t fail,’ the Washington Post extolling: ‘It’s firing on all cylinders’ and Vanity Fair saying it means ‘the greatest and deeper’ than the first season.
